There are quite a number of reasons why Camps Bay is one of Cape Town’s most famed holiday spots; the white sands, the crystal clear, blue ocean and then of course there is the variety of exquisite restaurants which line Camps Bay’s beachfront.
Situated on the corner of The Meadway and Victoria Road above the Camps Bay Sports Club is the newest addition to Camps Bay’s restaurant scene - Barocca Camps Bay Club.
It is here where friends, families, children and even the beloved household dog meets to relax after a hard day of working or patrolling the yard. Holiday goers are walking distance from this location making this the ideal venue to take of your flip flops and kick back as you grab a bite to eat after spending countless hours in the summer sun. Service is fast and friendly, and the addition of man’s best friend strolling about makes Barocca an informal venue with a casual and relaxing atmosphere during daytime or at night.
And then there is the food, if location and ambience doesn’t count as a factor in your decision making process then the appetite awakening menu options should. Depending on the severity of your hunger pangs, you should consider digging into one of Barocca’s starters.
Hot Wings (R38) – don’t let the ‘hot’ deceive you – spicy and full of flavour, these 10 sticky chicken wings with a blue cheese dip is the perfect way to start any meal. A large enough portion to be shared between a group of friends is an added benefit. However, if you’d rather just delve into the variety of mains there are ample options to choose from.
A satisfying Chicken Ciabatta roll (R24) filled with roast chicken, avocado and pepperdews covered in a light mayonnaise sauce is a satisfying lunch or dinner option. In the afternoon heat the idea of a cooked meal might seem unbearable, so Barocca offers a refreshing selection of freshly prepared Ciabattas.
As you are next to the beach, the ocean breeze and blue water might awaken the need to order a lovely Pan Fried Line Fish Fillet (R78), served with a crisp garden salad and fries. The soft flakes of Line fish dipped in a homemade mayonnaise makes this meal an absolute delight.
You can also add a touch of Italy to your seaside dining with Barocca’s Spaghetti Carbonara (R48). Flawlessly prepared spaghetti is mixed with slices of Gypsy Ham and covered in a rich and velvety mushrooms and cream Sauce. Decadent and delicious are the only words that describe this meal.
And if calamari has always been amongst your favourite seaside dishes, do indulge in the Wok Fried Baby Calamari Tentacles (R48). Soft and bite-size, each portion of Calamari fried in Lemon and Garlic and dipped in a homemade Lemon Butter sauce is a treat to your unsuspecting taste buds.
It might seem as if Barocca only caters for patrons who love seafood, but don’t be deceived. A succulent 200g Char Grilled Sirloin (R85), basted in BBQ marinade and served with spring onion mash and a green peppercorn sauce is one of the mouth watering meat-lover options. The scrumptious meat and delicately flavoured mash combined with the peppery aftertaste of the sauce makes this meal a gem on Barocca’s menu.
Patrons who bring along a canine best friend don’t need to worry about dinning alone. When deciding on the final menu, Barocca owners kept Lassie in mind.
While you indulge in a variety of delectable meals, you can order a snack for your dog from the ‘4 Paws Menu’ or a luxurious handmade gourmet treat ‘From the Bakery’ section.
An assortment of bone-shaped biscuits (R3 each); Cheesy, Veggie, Meaty or even Peanut Butter is sure to satisfy your pet and if you decide to rather dine alone while he/she watches over your property to take a doggie bag along to treat favourite and faithful doggie.
All Full Circle restaurant reviews are unannounced and the meals paid for in full.
