Whether it’s lunch, dinner, dessert or cocktails – Café Chic has it all. Located on Breda Street in Oranjezicht Cape Town this Café has succeeded in combining breath-taking décor, first class dining and a special home-brewed rum to create a space where guests can sit back, relax and enjoy the exquisiteness of each room. You can decide where you want to dine, amongst rich reds and blacks that decorate one of the smaller dining areas or the lavish purples and glittering chandeliers in a larger dining hall. And if dining isn’t why you find yourself at Café Chic, then feel free to bask in the blue hues of unique decor at one of the bars. Here you can sip on a drink or take your drink and pay a visit to the lush Moroccan-themed lounge.
If those options aren’t reason enough to stop in at this old Victorian house then the mouth-watering menu options will definitely make you think twice.
Beef carpaccio served with wild rocket, parmesan cheese, olive oil and fresh lemon (R45) is one of the delightful starter options. Rich in flavour, yet relatively light, this meal prepares the palate for the feast of flavour to follow. If red meat isn’t your forte – don’t fret. Indulge in a little French cuisine with a portion of grilled goat’s cheese on a French brioche (R45). This delectable duo is accompanied by homemade fruit chutney which enhances the taste of each bite.
Alternatively, sink your teeth into the freshly prepared tapenade base topped with cherry tomatoes, wild rocket and grilled baby calamari (R55). The combination of crushed black olives combined with the sweet flavour of the cherry tomatoes adds a tangy twist to each succulent bite size portion of calamari.
Content and comfortable; the friendly service of waiters, managers and even the chef on duty makes any visitor feel like a VIP at this venue. Hooked on the taste of French cuisine merged with a variety of South African ingredients pull the a la carte menu closer and order one of the Café’s masterpiece mains.
Dig into a deep bowl of prawns, mussels, calamari and pasta. This Seafood linguini (R90) is covered in the chef’s secret sauce. The colourful presentation is as pleasing to the eye as the combination of flavours is to your palate – no morsel will be left behind.
Whether you prefer your red meat rare, medium or well done – Café Chic’s beef rump topped with the chef’s unique sauce and side-serving of French fries or smooth mash (R95) is any meat-lover’s ultimate meal. Eat slowly, and savour each bite as the succulent rump truly is one of a kind.
And as Café Chic believes in catering for the majority and minority – don’t miss out – try one of their poultry dishes.
A rich, roasted duck leg confit is served with sautéed garlic baby potatoes (R125). Tender, sweet meat paired with the fresh herbs and soft potatoes makes this meal another favourite. So if the traditional stuffed turkey at Christmas seems like too much of a mission this year – stop in at Café Chic for a lunch/dinner that the entire family will enjoy. You can even try the juicy chicken breast fillet marinated in fresh herbs accompanied by seasonable roasted vegetables and a creamy tomato sauce (R75). After thoroughly enjoying this meal you will have to fight the urge to ask the chef for his recipe.
But alas what would any dinner out be without a sweet treat. So do bite into one of the warm and fluffy soufflés. Indulge in the aroma and taste of the Vanilla Soufflé (R40) or add an alcoholic touch to your treat by settling for the Soufflégrand Marnier (R45). A sweet wine is delicately mixed with the smooth texture of a traditional soufflé.
Try something new and feast on a variety of Full Circle’s five-star rated dishes at Café Chic during the festive season.
